 Cornucopia Lodge offers day riding into Eagle Cap Wilderness and two great extended wilderness riding adventures. Other extended wilderness adventures by horse are available through Cornucopia Pack Station next door to the lodge, or through Wilderness Horse Camp for kids aged 12-17.
This is Western riding at its best through spectacular terrain from river valleys to ridge tops and alpine lakes in Eagle Cap Wilderness and down onto the bench land and all the way down to the river bottom of Hells Canyon, the deepest gorge in the United States--deeper than the Grand Canyon. The Prospector: 4 Day / 3 Night Adventure
The first afternoon and night of the Prospector is spent at Cornucopia Lodge in one of the new cabins or a room in our new lodge.
The Lodge is just a short distance from the old Cornucopia mining camp and ghost town, right next door to Eagle Cap Wilderness. You'll have the remarkable experience of an evening in a classic, high-walled mountain valley while you enjoy your family style dinner. In the morning you ride deep into the wilderness passing through time and country into the Old West where miners searched for and found gold.
We'll provide the horses and mules, guide, cook, food, camp equipment, and cots. We'll even provide the sleeping bag so you won't miss the experience of a lifetime sleeping under stars big enough to touch. And bring a camera. The views on the ride in and out of Eagle Cap Wilderness are worth framing.
On the third day we'll ride back to Cornucopia for a hot shower, another delicious Western dinner, and a final night in a cabin.
We will put together groups of up to eight people for this trip.

Red Mountain Rendezvous: 6 Days / 5 Nights Adventure
The Red Mountain Rendezvous is a six-day trip beginning and ending with a night in one of our new cabins or rooms at Cornucopia Lodge. Arrivals are scheduled for early afternoon and after getting settled in your wrangler will help you choose a horse followed by a short ride.
The following day after breakfast your guide and packer will load all the gear on mules and everyone will ride into the wilderness. The ride is a steady climb to our Red Mountain Base Camp, situated high on the slopes of Red Mountain at over 7,000 ft., and there you spend the next three days. Each day you will ride to different locations where you might dangle your feet or swim in a nearby alpine lake, hike to an abandoned mine, or just spend the time relaxing around the campfire.
These trips are designed to show you what the Eagle Cap Wilderness has to offer. Each party will consist of up to eight people. We will combine smaller groups to make one group of eight or you can book a single party of eight.
Everything is provided, including the wranglers, cooks, food and all meals, cots, sleeping bags and liners, and all the necessary equipment, you just bring your personal gear. Fisherman will want to be sure to include a fishing pole and a camera with plenty of film is recommended for everyone.
Camp price is added to Cabin cost.
