Boy's Wilderness Pack Trip

Here at Cornucopia Lodge, we are passionate about educating our young people in back country skills, survival techniques and teaching them to love the outdoors as much as we do.  They are the future and if they are going to be entrusted with the protection of our wild lands, they need to love it and understand it.

For boy’s ages 12-17, with or without their fathers, this camp is designed simply to help foster each boy’s interest in, and experience with, the back country. They will assist with all aspects of the trip including horse care, fire building, tent placement, meals, etc. Additionally, as the opportunity arises, they will receive instruction in flora and fauna identification, rudimentary survival skills, orienteering and other basic outdoor skills.

Their first night will be spent in our on-site wall-tent camp where they will be assigned their riding animals, given guidelines and prepared for their next 3 days in the wilderness.  Days 2-4 will be spent at a wilderness camp, where they will be introduced to the above skills, given opportunity to practice (with much supervision) and where they will gain confidence, patience and basic skills.

Cost is $600/person and camp is limited to 8 people.

4th Annual Cornucopia History Talk, Tour & Lunch

Our 4th Annual Cornucopia History Talk, Tour & Lunch is scheduled for July 13th, 2019. The last several years have focused on the mine itself, and the town that the mine supported.

2019: “Cornucopia Mines 3 gold mills: Union-Companion, Baker and Coulter.”

Author Tom Cook will discuss the three, very different methods the mills used to extract gold from ore. A two page handout with historic mill photos will be provided. This is a new talk, different from last summer’s. Tom will sign copies of his books: “Cornucopia: Oregon’s Richest Mine and Boom Town to Ghost Town” afterwards.

Make your reservations NOW for this event, to ensure lodging for the weekend. Cost is $15 and includes lunch, talk, and tour.

Father's Day Dinner & Movie Night

Join us for a fun and memorable Dinner and Movie...

The Father’s Day Movie & Dinner Night in 2018 was such a hit, we’ve decided to make an annual tradition! 2019 will be our 2nd Annual Father’s Day weekend event.

We expect our Father's Day movie this year to be "The Ranger, The Cook and The Hole in the Sky" - a lesser known movie with Sam Elliot, based on an essay by "A River Runs Through It" author, Norman Maclean about his summer building trail in the Bitterroot National Forest in 1919.  This is one of our MOST FAVORITE movies of all time and we KNOW you will all enjoy it as well! (Read more about the movie HERE)

As this movie is shorter than the 2018 one, we'll start the evening with with an upscale Country Gourmet dinner, after which you can enjoy a glass of wine while watching the movie. (We are still hoping to work out the kinks to be able to show the movie outside!)

Dinner will start at 5:30pm and we expect to be finished up around 8:30.  $35 for Dinner & Movie.  (Ask about our lodging packages that include this event!)
